OromiaOromia is one of the nine ethnically based regional states of Ethiopia, the homeland of the Oromo. It is bordered by the Somali Region to the east; the Amhara Region, the Afar Region and the Benishangul-Gumuz Region to the north; South Sudan, Gambela Region, and Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples' Region to the west; and Kenya to the south.

ReligionWaaqeffanna the indigenous Oromo religion which had been practiced long before the introduction of the two major religions, Christianity and Islam into Northeast Africa. Waaqeffanna is the term derived from an Oromo word, Waaqa which literally means sky God (above all else) and a believer in Waaqa is called Waaqeffata.
Currently, most of the Oromo people like other people in the region practicing Christianitty and Musims in addition to Waaqeffanna. |
